House construction or villa construction

As described above, you can also build it yourself with your own architect. An architect will of course be responsible for a large part of the follow-up, but you will also have to invest a lot of time yourself in terms of follow-up, coordination and management.

The big advantage is that you obviously have more freedom and the total price will usually be cheaper than for a comparable home with a turnkey option. 

The going rate for an architect is 7%, although the architect is of course not bound to this. Suppose the construction of your home costs €200.000, then the architect will cost you €14.000.

How much does it cost to build a house?

A rough estimate is the target price of an 'average new-build home' 1.200 to 1.600 euros per square meter. This may be more or less depending on your specific situation and finish (materials, home automation, heat pumps, solar panels, ...) of course.
